Great follow up post, Cat. We are only human and mostly we want to know we count. Sometimes when people don't get that warm fuzzy feeling in their real lives they create a fantasy life and live in their head - most of us know the difference. Some of us have an illness that doesn't allow for that and those are the ones that need our support the most.
ReplyDeleteC'mon back Christina -
Thank you for the kind words and understand Sunny...I hope Christina reads them.

I have to say that it's great to see messages of support for a person who only wanted to be a part of something and never did anyone any harm. If it helps at all, it's not the first time I've met someone who did something of the sort for similar reasons but who stayed around anyway and was accepted back into the community for the genuine qualities they still had.
ReplyDeleteI think the problem is that, despite the abundance of forgiveness that this community shows. She did do harm to some people. She formed friendships in real life with real people and years of friendships based solely on mistruths. I think it's important to keep in mind the depth of hurt caused to some people. Most of us are just realizing what we thought was real actually wasn't. Or perhaps faith in an acquaintance has been shaken. Or the advice that we thought came from years of experience actually hadn't. Still, we are ok. My heart aches for the people who were genuinely hurt by these actions that took place over several years in real life, not just on a blog. My heart also aches for Christina herself. While I haven't been I a situation like this, I do understand how encompassing depression and loneliness can be. I'm just sad for everybody all around.
DeleteHey D&L...thank you for your words of support...I hope that Christina comes by and reads them.

Hey Chickie...I am in no way denying the harm that Christina's actions caused. I vacillate between understanding and hurt and confusion. It will take me a while to heal but at the same time, I am not cutting myself off from our community and I just want to make sure Christina doesn't either. And yes, my heart hurts for everyone. Hopefully, we will all come through stronger. Bottom line...we are family...warts and all. ;)

I too didn't mean to suggest that lies and deception aren't harmful and don't matter.
DeleteWhere I talked about Christina not doing anyone harm, I was thinking that, if she is anything like the lady I knew who did something similar, none of the advice she gave was bad, the support she offered others was genuine and she was consistently kind and understanding. Of course that's not an excuse or a reason to deceive people who are supposed to be your friends, but in all other ways this person was one of the kindest and most supportive people I have ever known. For me personally, that eventually won out over the deception.
Oh Bless. poor Christina, thoughts are with her
