Guess Who!

Hey y’all… Surprise! This is not a pre-scheduled post! It’s actually me!

I'm sorry for being MIA for so long...has been a rough few months and have caught myself hibernating quite a bit. Looking back, I probably should have postponed my surgery.  Trying to deal with my mother's grief and mine has been hard enough but add in attending therapy and trying physically recover is a bit much.  Now add in that we have had an unusually large amount of rain in this area this past month and I have a leak in my basement so have spent quite a bit of time cleaning up water. *sigh*  Thank the good Lord for my wet vac!

Thank you so much for all the wonderful and supportive prayers, messages, emails, cards and letters.  You will never know how much they have meant to me!  💜

Okay...here is a bit more in the way of updates...my mom is struggling...can't say I know of a mother who wouldn't be.  She broke my heart the other day when she informed me that my brother was the first think she thought of when she woke up and the last thing she thought of before going to sleep.  I speak with her on a daily basis and can tell how bad a day she's having by how early she starts phoning and how many calls come in that day.

Yes, I am also still struggling with my brother's death.  Since we were only 13 months apart in age and my dad was a pure D redneck with a capital R, we were raised more as twins and even though he was over the road so much, he would often call me when he was driving long stretches in western Kansas.

Now to my shoulder...yes it is still painful but I have regained quite a bit of my mobility even though I still have a ways to go.  According to my doctor and therapist, it will probably be a year before I am "fully" healed.  Unfortunately, I can't take that year off work so am scheduled to go back to work on Tuesday the 5th of September.  Will just have to take frequent breaks which will make for longer days but will get through it.

I originally thought I would go back and respond to all the past comments but don't think I can handle that.  If there are any specific messages and/or questions you left that you would like me to respond to, please let me know and I will address those.  I will be responding to all comments from today moving forward.

I am gonna try to start getting around to visiting everyone but again, am gonna have to take it slow and easy.  If you have a particular post you want me to come visit, just email me.

I completed one painting that was almost done prior to my shoulder getting so bad and have completed two other paintings recently.  If you want to see them, just click on the "My Artwork" in the sidebar.

Hugs and blessings to all y'all!  💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Now for your giggle of the day...

His Reaction

After His Wife Died, He Stunned Everyone With His Reaction

A man of 92 years, short, very well-presented, and takes great care of his appearance, is moving into an old people’s home today. His wife of 70 years has recently died, and he is obliged to leave his home.

After waiting several hours in the retirement home lobby, he gently smiles as he is told that his room is ready. As he slowly walks to the elevator using his cane, the assistant describes his small room to him, including the curtain for the window.

‘I like it very much’, he says, with the enthusiasm of an 8-year-old boy who has just been given a new puppy.

‘Mr. Todd, you haven’t even seen the room yet. Hang on a moment, we are almost there.’

‘That has nothing to do with it, he replies. ‘Happiness is something I choose in advance. Whether or not I like the room does not depend on the furniture, or the decor – rather it depends on how I decide to see it.

‘It is already decided in my mind that I like my room. It is a decision I take every morning when I wake up.

‘I can choose. I can spend my day in bed enumerating all the difficulties that I have with the parts of my body that no longer work very well, or I can get up and give thanks to heaven for those parts that are still in working order.

‘Every day is a gift, and as long as I can open my eyes, I will focus on the new day, and all the happy memories that I have built up over my life.

‘Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw in later life what you have deposited along the way. So the advice to you is to deposit all the happiness you can in your bank account of memories.

Remember these simple guidelines for Happiness:
  • Free your heart from hate.
  • Free your mind from worry.
  • Live simply.
  • Give more & Expect less.

Breakfast

I fixed bacon, eggs and biscuits for breakfast this morning and after filling my bar pan with bacon, there were 3 slices left in the package.

Well, that would just make me mad to open the pack of bacon and find 3 pieces.

So, I grabbed another small bar pan and cooked those 3 pieces, too.

Mac said, "I think that's too much bacon..."

It's like I don't even know who he is.....

Body-Positive

9 Body-Positive Quotes to Boost Your Self-Esteem

clip_image001

No matter how much time you put in at the gym or how thoughtfully you nourish your body, everyone suffers from body-image issues from time to time. When you need a little boost of self-esteem (and who doesn't), here are 9 of our favorite quotes and mantras.

clip_image002
"When life throws you curves, embrace them!" Whether you're curvy or thin or somewhere in between, embrace the body you have right now. Chicken legs or thunder thighs, your legs and feet take you where you want to go. Skinny arms or bat wings, your arms let you hug your kids. Love your body, it's your home!

clip_image003
"Happiness isn't size specific." Many people discover that after losing weight they're about as happy as they ever were. Happiness is a choice not a condition of achieving a "perfect" body. Choose to be happy right now!

clip_image004
"There is no wrong way to have a body." We're all human. We all have flaws. Your body is yours and you should love it for all the things it can do.

clip_image005
"You are so much more than the number you see on the scale." The scale can't tell you how you good you feel. The scale can't tell you how much you're loved. The scale can't tell you how much you should love yourself. It can't even tell you how strong you are. All it does is measure the effect of gravity on your body. That's it!

clip_image006
"Exercise because you love your body, not because you hate it." Exercise should never be a punishment for something you eat. It should make you feel good and strong and energized. Move out of love for yourself and your body rather than focusing on how many calories you're burning.

clip_image007
"Don't say anything about yourself that you wouldn't say about your best friend." Would you tell your best friend that she was lazy, worthless and fat. Would you say that you hate her and wish she would just change. No, of course, not! So stop saying those hateful things to yourself!

clip_image008
"If someone has a problem with your body, it's their problem--not yours!" Your body is your business. If someone says something rude to you about your body it's because of their own self-esteem issues. You're under no obligation to agree with them!

clip_image009
"Love yourself first and everything else falls into line." To be kind to others and love them you must first be kind to yourself. Start by loving yourself and then allow yourself to see the entire world with love rather than judgement. Can you imagine how good that would feel?

clip_image010
"To love yourself right now, just as you are, is to give yourself heaven." You live with yourself day in and day out for your entire life. Can you make being in your own skin a joy rather than a misery? You can if you focus on living in the moment and enjoying all the good things your body has to offer, rather than worrying about its imperfections.
