  3. Ahh.. I recognize the bdsm symbol, as my collar has them done in silver braided with the black leather. It's quite pretty and can be worn out. I feel confident no one would know what they are in my circle.. but on the off chance they do... Yeah.. just no... AND.. your work is awesome..

    1. Hey Anon...haven't quite decided if I'm finished with it or will outline the bum...it shows up quite well when there is no directly light on it...especially if you look at it from a bit of an angle. If I decide to outline, I will post a new pic of it. Thanks for the feedback.

  10. It's nice people like different paintings. For me it is Anger. Don't like it much that I like anger the most, I'd rather would have liked Having Fun. But I don't. Anger symbolyses my feelings quite accurately when I'm angry. I'm not angry often, but when I am I feel like the painting. A turmoil of feelings all at once. I keep returning to that one. i like day and night also, I would hang them in my living room. Anger I would place in a dark closet. With a spotlight illuminating the painting.

I join all those who said in better words than I can in admiration of your work.

    1. Hey Han...I think 'Anger' should really be renamed to 'Emotions' because it was getting out a bunch of emotions (Anger, Hurt, Confusion, etc.) when I painted it.

'Night' and 'Day' are hanging in my living room and 'Anger' is hanging with my other paintings that I haven't found a home for yet. Think I'm going to start lining them down the hall to the bedrooms.

I am very honored by your lovely words...you stated it beautifully. Thank you.

  13. Mmm, Cat I was away for too long because it seems that I have missed more than two new ones? Kissing couple is new, right? What a wonderful world/Infinity is nice. Not my taste, but certainly nice. Kissing couple is different in more ways than one. Different technique, right? More than one you have not tried before? I'm very curious how you like it yourself. I like the concept. I would have liked the kissing couple a bit more abstract.. But hey, I cannot paint my wife's toenails, so who am I to comment?

Bum in turquise is more traditional, back to cubism. I like it.

Interesting Cat, are you going to use Kissing Couple concept more?
It would be nice if you could date them, so we could see the artistic development in time. I thought they were dated in order of your page, you know FIFO, but they aren't.

Thank you for sharing your work with us, it makes a woman more naked than looking at her without clothes to see her trough her paintings, so don't think I don't now how special this is...

    1. Hey Han...'What a Wonderful World/Infinity' was a request from a very dear friend...that particular design I don't do very often as it is actually a lot of work. LOL Kissing couple is the same in the fact that the raised design is made from joint compound. However it is different in that I actually painted the raised design rather than let it just be part of the painting as I did with others such as BDSM, Infinity, Colorful Bum, Kneeling in Brown. I also just painted the background one color and then drybrushed the silver paint on.

I really like Kissing Couple...it is actually hanging in my bedroom. I am working on two other paintings with the same design but one is going to be painted in the Mondrian style (what you call cubism) and haven't decided on the other yet.

Actually, with the exception of bum in blue, the painting are in order of when they were painted. You can see the dates on most of the paintings but the very top photo was taken with an old phone back in 2006. I also took some of the pictures before I signed and dated the paintings (those were all 2014). Quite a few of my paintings were given to family and vanilla friends and those paintings are not displayed here...think you can understand why. LOL

It makes me very happy that you enjoy my work. Between the holidays and this darn illness I've been fighting, I have not been painting much but hope to continue soon as I have a total of four paintings in progress and several other ideas I want to start on.

      Hugs and Blessings...

  14. Oh, Cat the Kissing Couple is even more powerful that the previous one. I love your choice of colours!! I would never have thought the colours would match so well together! And the shapes ( If you look at the division of space between BDSM in grey and grimson,) this one is so much more peaceful, so much more in harmony. Where the background of "Kissing couple" make me anxious, and restless, Kissing Couple in Sage and Lavender makes me at ease and well, quiet inside. Well done, Cat. I think it is wonderful you share this with us...

    1. Thank you so much Han for your lovely critic. I am so happy you saw what I was trying to do with this painting. I really wanted to convey a more sensual and loving atmosphere whereas with the BDSM painting, I was going for more of the order and discipline atmosphere. Sage and lavender and one of my favorite color combinations. Have more paintings in progress so I'd better get back to them. ;)

  15. I love, love the kissing couples! The Lavender and Sage is beautiful! I agree with Han about this one being peaceful! The composition is anchored better. I also feel as if the woman is more feminine here! It isn't as graphic and reads more as fine art. Lovely!

  16. Hi Cat, followed the link from DF; I haven't been in this section of your blog for ages (the last I remember was kneeling in red, yellow and grey) and have missed so much here! I have an absolute favourite, Bronze wind with gold woman, followed by the kissing couple, together with Anger. I think I like them so much because they don't have the contrast of straight lines and corners combined with the free round forms. And I know for sure that they will be even more intense and impressive when standing in front of them, because photos can never get all of the real picture. Great paintings, thank you for sharing. What are you working on at the moment (unless it is a secret)?

    1. Hey Nina....just keep an eye on the date in the sidebar underneath the 'My Artwork' link...I update it whenever I add a painting. Bronze Wind with Gold Woman is hanging in my living room because it is one of my favorites also. I really like that everyone has their favorites and not everyone likes the same thing. Some really like the 'Mondrian' style while others like the more free form. I am almost finished with another painting and should be ready to upload it on Monday when my internet speed goes back up. I have 3 others I'm working on...they all 3 have the raised image in the middle..a stylized woman sleeping, a woman stretched out on her back and an Irish Triqueta symbol. Haven't decided how I'm going to paint them yet.

  18. Cat I am thinking about textured woman. It just came to me after reading Han's comment regarding your development as an artist. You went from the Mondrian 'like' blocking and texture to a more emotive abstract composition with kissing couple. Now you took away the bolder color, added a ton of texture everywhere and finishing with a hint of the purple all over the white. However all three pieces could be considered complimentary. Interesting that I didn't see this before! Sorry!
I love the last two separately as well. They have quite a bit of depth because of the layers. They have a sophistication to them.

    Love them!

  19. Excellent! Even though you vary the ideas all your work showcases your love of color and texture. I think you always do something abstract after you do a Mondrian like figure... We can talk about that!

  21. I simply love Blue Textured-Silver Highlights and Silver Textured-Blue Highlights. They are obviously meant to be together and they would be an asset to anyone's living room. How creative! And how different to what you have done before. It's good to experiment new ways, and I simply adore this new way.
I think it is no surprise to you I don't care much for the Raindrops paintings. I not in that minimalistic movement at all. There is no way I can put feelings in them and your painting, nearly all of them are about feelings. Anger is the best I can make of it, but that is a reflection how I would paint that picture, only in a very angry and an impetuous mood... And I would not like to be confronted with my anger all the time. But perhaps you were not angry at all when you painted them, and it is my own reflection and feelings...

The paintings except for the kneeling woman that is "traditional you" portray turmoil to me. Confusion (Anger) and it makes me restless. Except for the Highlight pictures.
They are full of rest and peace.

Thank you as always for sharing this vulnerable side of you. I love it when you do so.
Is this the new direction? I will wait for it impatiently,

    Thank you,

    1. Hey Han...as always, I really enjoy your feedback. Actually, the raindrops paintings were painted when it was raining and I was trying to raise my spirits by creating colorful and sparkling raindrops as overcast, rainy days have a tendency to depress me.

I love working with texture as you can tell from my Mondrian style paintings that I add raised characters to. So decided to work more with abstract texture. Was actually not angry while creating any of these although was feeling a bit overwhelmed with life when I created 'Chaos'. I love water and 'Textured Waves' was a bit of an homage to the sea.

I'm not sure I would consider the abstract textured paintings a new direction as much as an expansion. Have several other projects in mind...some playing with texture, others playing with colors...hope to work on them after the holidays. Will upload them when they're completed. Thanks so much for your feedback.

  25. Sorry to say there is nothing regal to me in Vines. Vines is so raw and so brutal to me. It is like your arteries laying thick on the canvas, like the roots of the vines. Vines leave me unsettled and the colour speaks to me. I love the contrast between the browns and and greens/blues.Interesting colour. That one.

Sleeping underwater is tranquillity in paint. It is a study of peace and inner calm. What is not to love?

Muted is like when you wake up and your eyes need your glasses before you can focus. Don't wear glasses myself, but that is what it must feel like. It a Mondrianistic painting without having all the edges of the painting sharp yet. It's blurred. To me it's not sound or noise that is muted to a bearable level, it's not feelings that are muted because if they would come out it would hurt your eyes. It's not. It's foggy, non-transparent, in disarray.

Your painting bring always different feelings out, Cat, probably not what you meant when you painted them. But feelings nonetheless. And that is what art is all about I think, bring out the feelings in you.

Thank you so much for sharing. It's been worth the wait,

    1. Thank you so much for your critique, Han...you always give me such honest and thoughtful feedback.

You are so right...art is all about feelings so there is no right or wrong. I love that the same painting can impact different people in totally different ways.

It really doesn't matter what I was feeling or intended when painting but how they touch each person looking at them.

Vines, Muted and Sleeping Underwater all three started out in a different direction but each took a right turn in the process. Such is the creative process. ;) Thank you for your lovely compliments!

  26. One of the first things I wanted to see after being away for almost a year was your artwork Cat. The only sensible remarks I can make of them if I tell you what feelings they evoke from me.

Sleeping under water is probably the best work you have made, Cat. I love love love it. If it is not the best work it certainly is the one that is most intense. The blues spat of my screen and the figures are beautiful in their embrace. It bring tears to my eyes, that kind of beautiful. Wow. To be able to make that.

Muted makes me sad. It is a very sad painting and I would not want that in my living room Cat, it makes deep down inside melancholic and downhearted. Sorry...

The Irish painting is strong and fierce and is resilient the right word? It breaths power and hope and strength. Maybe that is not what you would want with it, but that is how it comes trough me.

The grey and pink work is wonderful. Not as powerful as the blue painting but sweet and lovely and loving and the feeling of togetherness is very strong with this one. Smile. How beautiful it is, but is does not come close with reclining woman. OMG, that is a work that never gets bored, you always see something new in it. The woman in a classic pose is so sensual. It makes you want to connect the lines to see if you can extract a lover there somewhere. I could look at this one forever.

Love in pink and gray is a classic one for you. Nice but not... Well maybe I just like the strong colours better Cat?

It was so nice to see them all again, Cat. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing them with us.
