I am snowed in and if I’m lucky, I’ll be out by spring thaw! LOL
It’s not really easy to see how deep the snow is but the little bit of brown you see in the first picture is a 12 inch ruler…this is up near the garage and was protected from the winds so this is what we actually got…it is sitting on two layers of ice…the first from Saturday and the second from yesterday between two bouts of snow so it is probably closer to 15 inches total.
In places, I have 2 and 3 foot drifts and in others, you can see grass sticking through. Unfortunately, in my driveway, it is 12 inches plus...even though it doesn’t really look like it in the pictures. Where I shuffled down a short bit of my driveway in the picture…that is actually 12 inches deep!
This is where is shuffled down the driveway just a bit…it curves back to the left and then left again and then long straightaway!
And we’re due for more snow in here Saturday, Monday, Tuesday with another major snow storm in next weekend…*sigh*
We have a similar amount and another storm is due on Sunday. Luckily we don't have underlayers of ice and the snow in my yard is fluffy and fine because the temperatures have been so cold. Yours looks harder to shovel. Wishing you well! BTW, that's a handsome kitty ... what does he think of the snow?
ReplyDeleteHey Meg...The top layer of snow is fluffy but then you get to the ice/snow/ice and therein lies the problem. ;)
DeleteThat kitty is a little girl that got dumped somewhere around here last summer...she would let me feed her but not come near me for the longest time. She now lets me pet her but I've got two inside cats and don't have room for another so she lives in my garage and really does not like the snow.
Good new is that the weather has changed and we are now forecast for warmer weather and rain...so I'll be trying to get out through mud! LOL
Blessings...

Wow Cat, it looks like you live in the country. How long is your driveway? Are you really snowed in? What about groceries and such? That's a beautiful cat you have. Hope you are safe and warm. (((Hugs))) Julia
ReplyDeleteHey Julia...Yes, I do live in the country and my driveway is probably a bit under an 1/8 of a mile long...yes I was snowed in...got plowed out late Friday afternoon and it is just a narrow path. I keep an eye on the weather so had stocked up prior to the storm hitting. Will get back out and stock up before the thaw and rain hit as then I will be 'mudded in'. Thank you...yes she is beautiful...just wish I could find a forever home for her.

I feel your pain! We have so much snow and now the frigid temps are killing us!
ReplyDeleteOh yes...you got what we had and the temps are ridiculously low! -30F wind chill? Yikes!!!
DeleteDon't know about you but they've changed the forecast here so Wednesday, we're due for more snow and then it's supposed to start warming and raining...in the 60's by Sunday but with all the warming and rain, I'll definitely be 'mudded in'! Ack!!!

Ugh, looks a lot like my place too. We just hit 100 inches for the season. I desperately need a color other than white in my landscape :)
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain Faerie...I feel so much better emotionally and physically when there is color other than black, white and grey in my environment!
DeleteSending lots of positive thoughts your way.

Oh my that's a lot of snow :( we've been really lucky this year we had about two weeks of freezing weather and three days of snow and then temps went back up and it's like spring now with rain and sunshine and temps rising :) it's weird we've never had such a warm winter that I can remember
ReplyDeleteStay warm x
Hey Missy...Not as much snow as a lot of people got so have to count myself fortunate. Goodness, you are getting the strange weather aren't you...is any of the flooding impacting you?
DeleteAm trying to stay warm! LOL

That's an impressive snow! If it helps any Good Morning America says that big snowstorm predicted for the weekend isn't accurate. But coming or not you seem to have plenty now. I hope you can just stay in and snuggle with the cat.
ReplyDeleteHey PK...yup...the local yokels finally changed their forecasts...we're now looking at very warm for this time of year (50s and 60s) with rain so instead of being snowed in, I'll be mudded in! I'm snuggling with 2 cats but the cat in the picture is a stray that I have coaxed in to the garage. My garage is heated so she stays warm...I fixed a litter box for her so she doesn't have to go out in the cold and I feed her. She's got a nice little nest she cuddles up in...just wish I could find her a forever home.

Oh geez Cat!!! We've about had enough snow around here as well!! More on the way. We got over a foot the day before yesterday. As pretty as it is- enough already!!!
ReplyDeleteI like your snow pics!! The one with the cat is too cute. Out kitty is an indoor one- I bet he'd love the snow. He likes to get wet! Stay warm and cozy! Many hugs,
<3 Katie T
Hey Katie...I do believe we've all had enough snow! It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't out in the country on gravel roads with a gravel/dirt driveway. LOL
DeleteMy kitties are indoor also...the kitty in the picture a stray that was dumped over the summer...see my comment to PK above.
Trying to stay warm and by the end of the week, will be trying to keep my head above the mud!

Oh Cat. I'm so sorry. I won't be complaining now about seven days w/o much sun and temps in the 40s since arriving in Galveston. It's so much better than what you have.
ReplyDeleteLOL Sunny...complain away dear...you're in Galveston so you deserve better weather than that! We're supposed to get warmer weather and rain towards the end of the week so maybe you'll get some warmer weather!

Hi Cat, that is such a lot of snow, never seen so much. Lovely cat btw. Hope you can stay in and keep warm. in England it is just oceans and oceans of water falling from the skies, combined with very nasty winds. I feel lucky though looking at your snow.
ReplyDeletelove Jan.xx
Hey Jan...from what I understand, your neck of the woods is dealing with a lot of flooding and high winds can do a lot of damage! Think we all need to run away to the Caribbean! LOL

We have ridiculous amounts of snow here as well, and more coming! Is there some kind of spring chant we can do to hurrrrryyy it up!?
ReplyDeleteHey Kenzie...if you find out what that chant is, let me know. We can spread the word and have everyone in blog land chanting! ;)

Our temps are in the 20s with just a dusting of snow. Good news is that the roads are clear with just a few patches of ice. Wishing you warm weather and a hot beverage of your choice.
ReplyDeleteI have a fresh pot of chicory coffee on. I would send you a cup if I could. WARM hugs
Hey Rose...So sorry you have the cold weather! I appreciate the offer of coffee but I am not a coffee drinker. ;) My hot beverage of choice is either hot chocolate or spiced cider and I have definitely been drinking both of those!
DeleteWe're due for warmer weather by the end of the week...hope you get some also and get some play time in the garage!

Pfft. I commented on this. My phone must've ate it, or goooogle did. Meh.
ReplyDeleteI love snow, but I will admit I am very glad D shovels it for me, and the kids help. I used to do almost all the shovelling - in that other life.
We had flurries for a while again this morning. It's so pretty with the snow falling. I'm sooooo glad we still had lots of snow on the ground because we had no water when we returned home early yesterday evening after a few hours of shopping. I've been melting snow ever since to flush toilets and boiling snow to wash dishes, hands and whatever body parts were needing a sponge bath. We already buy bottled water for drinking and cooking. I thought we were going to have to rent a motel room for the night just so we could shower today and in the morning. Luckily, the well recovered by early this evening, but I'm still melting snow in big plastic storage bins to keep in reserve for flushing and washing until I'm sure the well is fully recovered.
Snow, snow, snow!!! Thank you! I love you! Lol!
Oh goodness Irishey...at least I'm on county water so don't have to worry about well issues. Will be more than happy to send all this snow to you but since we are due for warming and rain by the end of the week, think it will just be mud by the time I could arrange transport. ;)
DeleteHope your well has recovered and doesn't give you any more trouble.
