Phones
Funny but sad and so very true…
When you’re lucky enough to be with your friends and/or family…
A touch of funny....but mostly sad.....the one calling the phones and adult binky....there is a ring of truth to that.....My grands cannot believe they cannot see me when we are on the phone...they have to talk, not just dance or act. Yes. i am a dinosaur with no 'smart' phone... hugs abby
I agree Abby. My grands don't understand why they can't see me. I do have a smart phone but don't have 4G or good internet where I am so won't support skype or facetime. ;)
Yes, Abby is right. Funny but sad. I hate seeing parents with their children, but totally ignoring them in favor of a stupid phone. I saw a grandmother reading to her two grandsons in the doctor's office and told her how special she was. Cat, you make us laugh, but you make us think, too.
Hi Cat, some are really funny, but most is sad with some truth in it. I love my phone, but wouldn't do any of these things with friends or family around. That's so rude, imagine someone talking and then not looking at them, ew. Thank you for sharing these.
These are what my great-grandmother used to call 'kidding on the square' - funny and sad but true. I can't imagine ignoring my family or friends to look at anything on my phone or computer but have seen people do it. And yes...it is very rude.
I didn't know whether I should laugh or cry at all of these, Cuz! :) Truth be told, I sure liked the simpler way of living back in the day. I think that kids certainly need to understand how to relate around the whole phone thing. You know, Rob and Ia re just as guilty of some of this at times. I think that most people are in this day and age.
Interestingly enough, we recently attended our very last (boo hoo- four kids through) back to school night at the high school. I think that both Rob and I found it amazing how much things have really changed at the high school level as far as information that they have literally at their hands. Teachers on twitter, and kids writing blogs, and it goes on and on. It was actually kind of amazing. At the same time, to keep up with all of the changes- these kids really need to be on top of this stuff or they will miss an assignment or other. They must learn. But with it, they must remember the basics- good manners and kindness through it all, Thanks for sharing. Many hugs,
Hey Cuz...I agree with you..technology has really 'invaded' our schools so our children do need to keep on top of the new technology and social media. At the same time, I feel as if social media (number of followers, likes, re-tweets,etc) is many times replacing true friendships and that worries the heck out of me for the future generations. There's a fine line and I hope they learn it. Nothing takes the place of hugs!
