Kinky Sex

Guess “50 Shades…” has impacted more than just vanilla housewives.  LOL

Harvard recognizes group promoting safe kinky sex

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) - Kinky sex has been admitted to Harvard.

The nation's oldest university has formally recognized Harvard College Munch, a group promoting discussions and safe practices of kinky and alternative sex. The school has no record of a similar group being recognized in its 376-year history.

The Committee on Student Life recognized Munch on Friday, making it one of 400 independent student organizations on campus. The decision occurred more than a year after members began meeting informally over meals.

"Applications for recognition are decided by a student-faculty committee following the review of a committee composed of students and administrators," Harvard spokesman Jeff Neal said in a statement Tuesday. "The college does not endorse the views or activities of any independent student organization."

Harvard is not the first school in the country to formally recognize kinky sex groups, and several active groups exist within the larger community in Cambridge and neighboring Boston.

  2. wow. how progressive.

i always said it's better to have something exist in the open for better regulation than to force groups to carry out activities in hiding cos that's when all the nasty stuff happens!

    1. You have a good point Fondles - hiding can cause a lot of the nasty, abusive stuff to happen. Hopefully, this will mitigate that.

  3. And to think that co-ed dorms was the radical thing when I went to college. This is a new era of sexuality for sure.

  4. Young idealists discussing kink over lunch to get in on the latest bdsm/erotica fad let loose by the marketing savvy of the Fifty Shades team....

Open discussions about sexuality - cool.

Trying on and wearing kink because it's the current fad...well, maybe they'll figure out early how they're wired, and save themselves many years of a lot of angst of suppressing natural tendencies...cool.

Let's hope they approach this with reason and caution, along with openmindedness and courage to know and be themselves. The psyche is susceptible to sexual and emotional pressure. Maybe I'm being overly cautious or old-fashioned, but I think some things are better suited to being in a permanent, trusting, loving relationship, not casual college sexual experimentation. Hopefully, they won't jump into things they later wish they never even knew about, and don't realize that until it's too late.

Gee, didn't mean to turn this into a bummer comment! I didn't mean it that way. I truly believe in being open and honest about sexuality, preferences, etc., and I really like trying new things. That part of me says, Yea! Go for it!

The mom in me, thinking of my grown kids and the ones still growing up, as well as some of my friends who've been in bad circumstances, says, Whoa, Nellie! No part of anything sexual or emotional should include being taken advantage of, used, abused, belittled or ridiculed. Learn about it, yes, but experiment on your own timeline, interests and preferences. Guess I'm worrying about peer pressure - now we know lots of people are doing it, so let's do it, too.

Bah, this is turning into a post, so I'm done here. I shoulda just said, "Cool, and maybe not always so cool," and moved on! ;-)

    1. LOL Irishey - you can comment/rant/turn into a post any time you want - your views are always welcome.

I do understand the mom in you being concerned but at the same time, I think Fondles had a good point that it might be safer for those who are truly experienting and investingating the lifestyle to do so in an open forum that can be better regulated. Hopefully, that might lessen the peer pressure and allow those who truly feel drawn towards the lifestyle to do so without sneaking, hiding, and maybe being seriously hurt - physically and/or emotionally. Also, IMHO, those who are just there because of the latest craze will soon move on to the next craze.

Thanks for your opinion - as always well said.

  5. I think that the spectrum is wide and that is great. I guess as parents we all worry about our kids getting into something that may hurt them emotionally and/or physically. The college years are full of crazy experimentation. However this will hopefully end certain forms of sexual discrimination in the future, and that is positive.

    1. We never stop worrying about our kids no matter how old they are do we Minelle.

At least in a somewhat regulated environment, there is less chance of them being hurt.

We can always hope that future sexual discrimation is eleminated. Just never know.
