Drunk Wife

Sandy staggered home very late after an evening drinking with her girlfriends. She took off her shoes to avoid waking up her husband, Sam.

She tiptoed as quietly as she could toward the stairs leading to their upstairs bedroom, but misjudged the bottom step. As she caught herself by grabbing the banister, her body swung around and she landed heavily on her bottom. A whiskey bottle in each back pocket broke and made the landing especially painful.

Managing not to yell, Sandy sprung up, pulled down her pants, and looked in the hall mirror to see that her bottom cheeks were cut and bleeding. She managed to quietly find a full box of Band-Aids and began putting a Band-Aid as best as she could on each place she saw blood.

She then hid the now almost empty Band-Aid box and shuffled and stumbled her way to bed.

In the morning, Sandy woke up with searing pain in both her head and bottom and Sam staring at her from across the room.
He said, ‘You were drunk again last night, weren’t you?’

Sandy said, ‘Why would you say such a mean thing?’

‘Well,’ Sam said, ‘it could be the open front door…or it could be the broken glass at the bottom of the stairs or it could be the drops of blood trailing through the house or it could be your bloodshot eyes, but mostly…it’s all those Band-Aids stuck on the hall mirror.

I know that Matthew’s next words would have been ‘now roll over and let me see how badly your bottom is hurt before…’  Sad smile

If you had pulled something like this, what response would you have received? LOL

Trials, Temptations, Disappointments

Trials, temptations, disappointments...all these are helps instead of hindrances, if one uses them rightly.  They not only test the fibre of a character, but strengthen it.  Every conquered temptation represents a new fund of moral energy.  Every trial endured and weathered in the right spirit makes a soul nobler and stronger than it was before.

Message to Christina

Here’s a quick note to the community…I have received several emails and messages asking if I knew about the contents of Christina’s post prior to it going up because of the timing of my post The Fence which went up a few hours before hers.  The answer to that is no, I found out in the same post that everyone else did.  However, I would suggest that people keep the moral of the story in mind...

Now…C…You haven't answered my texts or messages...you need to read them and go read all the messages to you on Blondie's post.  You know how I like to communicate with my quotes and pictures…the following are for you!

The Fence

The Fence

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the fence.

The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence.

Over the next few weeks as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily, gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.

The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said  “you have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one.”

You can put a knife in a person and draw it out.  It won’t matter how many times you say I’m sorry, the wound is still there.  Make sure you control your temper the next time you are tempted to say something you will regret later.

Strawberry Cheesecake Dip

Haven’t shared a recipe for a while so thought I’d share a very simple one that would be great for any gathering.

Strawberry Cheesecake Dip

Ingredients

·  16 ounces cream cheese - softened
·  1/4 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
·  1/2 cup strawberries
·  1/4 cup sugar
·  1 tablespoon Triple Sec (optional)
·  1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1.  Mix all ingredients in food processor until smooth and creamy.
2.  Pour into glass bowl, cover and chill.
3.  Serve with assortment of dippers (fruit, pound cake cubes, cookies, etc.)

Notes
·  If you don’t have or don’t choose to use Triple Sec, you can substitute orange extract
·  You can substitute sour cream for the Greek yogurt
·  Very short and easy…even for those of you who claim you can’t cook or who don’t want to cook. Winking smile

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and if you try the recipe, as always, I would love any feedback you would care to give.
