Hurry!

Years ago, no “legitimate" newspaper or television network published any story without fact checking.  The standard was to have two verifiable sources before publishing/airing a story.

In addition to the fact that many reporters now put their own ‘spin’ on a story…ignoring the who, what, when, where, why standards, in order to 'beat' the competition, they obviously are not fact checking either…at least this news station didn’t!  And this is mainstream media!!!! *snort*

This is exactly why you don't listen to HALF of what our news media puts out! These names were read ON AIR of the supposed pilots of the crashed jetliner in SF by a San Francisco news station! The names obviously weren't confirmed by the news station. Oops!

Founded by Geniuses…Run by Idiots

Saw this on Facebook the other day…shared by One Man's View and it reminded me of a conversation I had with a friend (you know who you are Winking smile )not too long before I saw the post where we were discussing getting arrested for breaking laws we don’t agree with.  See, I’m not the only one that thinks this way!  I do love Jeff Foxworthy!

A Country Founded by Geniuses but Run by Idiots
by Jeff Foxworthy:

If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for entering and remaining in the country illegally — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or to take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you MUST show your identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor, or check out a library book and rent a video, but not to vote for who runs the government — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If the government wants to prevent stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines that hold more than ten rounds, but gives twenty F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If, in the nation’s largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not one 24-ounce soda, because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If an 80-year-old woman or a three-year-old girl who is confined to a wheelchair can be strip-searched by the TSA at the airport, but a woman in a burka or a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If a seven-year-old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is “cute,” but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government regulation and intrusion, while not working is rewarded with Food Stamps, WIC checks, Medicaid benefits, subsidized housing, and free cell phones — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If the government’s plan for getting people back to work is to provide incentives for not working, by granting 99 weeks of unemployment checks, without any requirement to prove that gainful employment was diligently sought, but couldn’t be found — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big-screen TV, while your neighbor buys iPhones, time shares, a wall-sized do-it-all plasma screen TV and new cars, and the government forgives his debt when he defaults on his mortgage — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If being stripped of your Constitutional right to defend yourself makes you more “safe” according to the government — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

What a country!

How about we give God a reason to continue blessing America!

This concludes my rant for the week…thank you Jeff Foxworthy…now back to our regularly scheduled programs. Rolling on the floor laughing

Welcome to the DD Ranch

I recently received an email from Queenie, one of our community members who doesn’t blog but follows and comments on many blogs.  I'm sure you've seen her sweet and supportive comments around blog land.

She sent me some pictures she thought I would enjoy (I cracked up Open-mouthed smile) with a cute message and gave me permission to post them.

I emailed back and asked for permission to post part of her message, which she graciously granted.

Here is the message I received and the pictures. Smile

My husband and I came across this sign on the side of a highway recently.   It really caught our eye and we just looked at each other and started laughing.

A year or so ago, we wouldn't have even given it a second look.  We just had to double back and get a picture!  Love the smile underneath, lol!

When my husband got out with the camera, I thought he would just take a picture from outside the fence, but noooooo!

He actually ducked between the gates cross bars and walked right out into the pasture about 100 feet to get the shot. I  was worried about the rancher or a bull discovering him there, but luckily, he made it out okay, lol.

Cute pics aren’t they. Winking smile

BTW…Not everyone wants to set up a blog but sometimes they have something they would like to say or share…if any of you want to ‘guest post’ or share some pictures, email me.  I am more than happy to share my blog with you.

Interesting Facts

Disturbing a person while they're sleeping can increase their risk of a permanent mental breakdown.  See…really should let me sleep...please don't push me over that edge! LOL

Bacon has the same effect on our brains as cocaine & heroin. It overloads pleasure centers which requires increased amounts to be satisfied. Well dang!  Guess I’ll never give up bacon! Smile

If you put a mirror half a light year away from Earth and you looked at it through a telescope you could see a year into the Earth’s past.  Okaaayyyyyy

Chewing gum can actually raise your metabolic rate by about 20%. Oh my goodness…with all the bacon I'm going to be eating, I’ll need so much gum, I'm gonna look like a cow chewing her cud!  LOL

Bruce Lee was so fast that they actually had to slow film down so you could see his moves. Yowzer! Can you imagine getting a spanking from him?!?

Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have all been blocked in China. LOL…probably a lot more productive.

Earth used to have a twin planet, named Theia. Roughly 4.5 billion years ago, a planetary body which was postulated to be large as the planet Mars, shared the same orbit with Earth. This is the first I’ve ever heard of this!  Definitely want to research and learn more!

A man was stopped at an airport because he was suspected of carrying a weapon – It was actually his 13.5 inch penis. Woohoo!!!!

In Spain, a school is offering a professional course in prostitution and it guarantees a job offer on graduation.  Ummm…

Marrying your best friend eliminates the risk of divorce by over 70%. These marriages are more likely to last a lifetime. Now this I totally believe!

A Daily Good Deed

A guy shopping in a supermarket noticed a little old lady following him around. If he stopped, she stopped. Also she kept staring at him.

She finally overtook him at the checkout, and she turned to him and said, "I hope I haven't made you feel uncomfortable; it's just that you look so much like my late son."

He answered, "That's okay."

"I know it's silly, but if you'd call out "Goodbye, Mom" as I leave the store, it would make me feel so happy."

She then grabbed her bags and as she was on her way out of the store, the man called out, "Goodbye, Mother."

The little old lady waved and smiled back at him.

Pleased that he had brought a little sunshine into someone's day, he went to pay for his groceries.

"That comes to $121.85," said the clerk.

"How come so much? I only bought 5 items."

The clerk replied, "Yeah, but your Mother said you'd pay for her things, too."

*giggle*

Community

An anthropologist proposed a game to the kids in an African tribe.

He put a basket full of fruit near a tree and told the kids that who ever got there first won the sweet fruits.

When he told them to run they all took each others hands and ran together, then sat together enjoying their treats.

When he asked them why they had run like that as one could have had all the fruits for himself they said: ''UBUNTU, how can one of us be happy if all the other ones are sad?''

'UBUNTU' in the Xhosa culture means: "I am because we are."

Definition of Bas

While thinking of what I wanted to say and scrolling through different pictures to use for a post to honor Bas, I ran across the following definition.

The title and direction of my post changed immediately!

There he is!

Bas!

angels

Seriously…think about it…

Weren’t Bas’ words always with us?

Did Bas ever judge anyone?

Didn’t Bas give guidance whenever he was online?

Didn’t you feel unconditional love from and for Bas?

Didn’t he support each and every one of us…even if it wasn’t in the way we originally thought he should?

angels are miracles

Bas was our Angel...our Miracle!

Now, I’m sure he’s up there shaking his head at us and saying

Sending prayers and healing energy for strength, peace, and comfort to Lisa, Bas’ children and all his family here in blog land.

I’m sure Bas would not want us to forget sweet Emily and Ana’s tiny cousin…please join in sending prayers, healing energy and positive thoughts to both of them as well as their families and caregivers.

Best Prayer I Ever Heard

As I've seen many of our blog land family struggle in the past few weeks, I was reminded of this prayer that someone sent me several years ago.

Heavenly Father, Help us to remember that the jerk who cut us off in traffic last night is a single mother who worked nine hours that day and is rushing home to cook dinner, help with homework, do the laundry and spend few precious moments with her children before heading to her second job.

Help us to remember that the pierced, tattooed, disinterested young man who can't make change correctly is a worried 19-year-old college student, balancing his apprehension over final exams with his fear of not getting his student loans for next semester.

Remind us, Lord, that the scary looking bum, begging for money in the same spot every day (who really ought to get a job!) is a slave to addictions that we can only imagine in our worst nightmares.

Help us to remember that the old couple walking annoyingly slow through the store aisles and blocking our shopping progress are savoring this moment, knowing that, based on the biopsy report she got back last week, this will be the last year that they go shopping together.

Heavenly Father, remind us each day that, of all the gifts you give us, the greatest gift is love. It is not enough to share that love with those we hold dear. Open our hearts not to just those who are close to us, but to all humanity.

Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive; show patience, empathy and love.

some days you will be the light

At 9pm, for 5 minutes, please stop everything you are doing and focus on nothing and no one except sending prayers, healing energy and/or positive thoughts to Emily, Bas, and Ana’s young cousin!  Thank you!
