Will Never Forget

I Will Always Remember

I share the following every year as a reminder…we must never forget!  Never fails to brings tears to my eyes every time I read it.

This year, as in last two, it is even more heartbreaking for me as I was on the phone with my brother and we were both watching when the plane went into the second tower…I will never forget that moment.

You say you will never forget where you were when you heard the news on September 11, 2001.

Neither will I.

I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room with a man who called his wife to say "Good-bye." I held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the peace to say, "Honey, I am not going to make it, but it is OK...I am ready to go."
I was with his wife when he called as she fed breakfast to their children.  I held her up as she tried to understand his words and as she realized he wasn't coming home that night.
I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a woman cried out to Me for help.  "I have been knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!" I said.  "Of course I will show you the way home -- only believe on Me now."
I was at the base of the building with the Priest ministering to the injured and devastated souls. I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He heard my voice and answered.
I was on all four of those planes, in every seat, with every prayer.  I was with the crew as they were overtaken.  I was in the very hearts of the believers there, comforting and assuring them that their faith has saved them.
I was in Texas, Kansas, London.  I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news.  Did you sense Me?
I want you to know that I saw every face.  I knew every name -- though not all know Me.
Some met Me for the first time on the 86th floor.
Some sought Me with their last breath.
Some couldn't hear Me calling to them through the smoke and flames; “Come to Me... This way... take My hand."
Some chose, for the final time, to ignore Me.
But, I was there.
I did not place you in the Tower that day.  You may not know why, but I do.
However, if you were there in that explosive moment in time, would you have reached for Me?
September 11, 2001, was not the end of the journey for you.  But someday your journey will end and I will be there for you as well.
Seek Me now while I may be found.
Then, at any moment, you know you are "ready to go."
I will be in the stairwell of your final moments.
God

On Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day
Our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

911 Chilling Facts

On this day... 18 years ago 246 people with bags packed, went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work tomorrow morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

Never forget.

Dueling Obits

Two obituaries for the same man were printed in the same edition of the a newspaper. One was written by his wife, the other by his girlfriend!

dueling obits

In the top one, Leroy Black is survived by his ‘loving wife, Bearetta Harrison Black…’

In the bottom one, he is survived by his ‘…long-time girlfriend, Princess Hall.’ Note that is wife is not even mentioned by name. Guess she’s part of the “…host of other family…”

Can we say ‘tacky!’?

Results x 2

Hey y’all…went for my ultrasound today and didn’t even have to wait for my results…got them before I left the hospital!  Doin’ my happy dance here…no malignancies…just cysts…don’t even need to come back for another year!  Yup, I did cry tears of joy.

Thank all y’all so very much…I truly believe all the prayers, healing energy, positive thoughts, hugs and love I received are responsible for my good news.  I am so blessed to be part of this lovely blog land family.

Happydance

Now, I’ll turn you over to Queenie for her results!

Hello again blog land. It’s Queenie. (I’ve decided to just stick with that name after all.) It’s been a few weeks since Cat so graciously allowed me to guest post on her blog. In some of my replies to your comments, I promised to keep you updated on my condition. I do have some new information about that to share.

First though, I want to thank everyone once again for the kind, forgiving and supportive comments on that last post. More importantly, a HUGE thank you to all who prayed for me. I truly believe it is those prayers from all of you, my family, friends and even people who don’t even know me at all, that made what I’m about to share possible. Let me assure you, God can and does create miracles for just regular ‘folks’ like me. I can prove it.

I had a CT scan last week to see if the cancer had spread anywhere else. My liver was most at risk, but it could have been anywhere in my pelvic/abdominal region. I am beyond thrilled to tell you that cancer has NOT spread!
Excuse me while I do my happy dance ……….

Followed by dropping to my knees to praise Jesus…………

The true miracle here, however, is that the ‘mass’ moved. In it’s original position, (I have it in black and white from the first doctor’s report), I would have required radiation/chemo before surgery. I would have also required a permanent colostomy. The CT scan shows that this is no longer the case. The mass is now in a much more advantageous location. In fact, it has relocated a full 10 inches. I do NOT need radiation/chemo prior to surgery, and I do NOT need a colostomy.

Cue more dancing and praising Jesus ………….

So, I’m still facing surgery in a few weeks, (unless the thing disappears entirely), but compared to what I could have been facing, I’m actually very upbeat about it. I’m determined to recover quickly, get back on my feet ASAP and put this whole thing behind me for good.

I have learned so much from this. I know there is still more to learn. There are also many blessing from this experience. I will never be the same person again. I know that every single day on this earth is a gift. That gift can be taken from any of us at any time. Our whole life can change with a simple medical test. I will never again stress about the ‘little’ things. My faith in the basic goodness of others’ has been grown beyond anything I ever knew before. My faith in God has grown even more than I can say. He has always been with me, I know that, but I have felt His presence so strongly this past month. He has literally held me up.
This illness has brought together family members and others and promoted healing of past rifts. When it comes right down to it, nothing matters beyond the people in your life. All of these ‘things’ I’m surrounded by and the quest for new and better ‘things’ have become meaningless.

I’m sure many of you have heard that song by Tim McGraw, Live Like You Were Dying?  Why wait.  Live that way now.

God Bless,
Queenie

Here’s the song Queenie referred to in case you haven’t heard it.

If you can’t get the video to play, here is the YouTube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9TShlMkQnc

Please continue to keep Queenie in your prayers as she goes through her procedures.

How Old is Grandma?

Stay with this...the answer is at the end.  It will blow you away.

One evening a grandson was talking to his grandmother about current events.  The grandson asked his grandmother what she thought about the shootings at schools, the computer age, and just things in general.

The Grandmother replied, "Well, let me think a minute, I was born before:
television
penicillin
polio shots
frozen foods
Xerox
contact lenses
Frisbees and
the pill.

There were no:
credit cards
laser beams or
ball-point pens.

Man had not yet invented:
pantyhose
air conditioners
dishwashers
clothes dryers
and the clothes were hung out to dry in the fresh air and
man hadn't yet walked on the moon

Your Grandfather and I got married first, and then lived together.

Every family had a father and a mother.

Until I was 25, I called every man older than me, "Sir."
And after I turned 25, I still called policemen and every man with a title, "Sir."

We were before computer-dating, dual careers, daycare centers, and group therapy.

Our lives were governed by the Ten Commandments, good judgment, and common sense.

We were taught to know the difference between right and wrong and to stand up and take responsibility for our actions.

Serving your country was a privilege; living in this country was a bigger privilege.

Having a meaningful relationship meant getting along with your cousins.

Time-sharing meant time the family spent together in the evenings and weekends - not purchasing condominiums.

We never heard of FM radios, tape decks, CDs, electric typewriters, yogurt, or guys wearing earrings.

We listened to Big Bands on our radios.
And I don't ever remember any kid blowing his brains out listening to Tommy Dorsey.

If you saw anything with 'Made in Japan' on it…it was junk.

The term 'making out' referred to how you did on your school exam.

Pizza Hut, McDonald's, and instant coffee were unheard of.

We had 5 & 10-cent stores where you could actually buy things for 5 and 10 cents.

Ice-cream cones, phone calls, rides on a streetcar, and a Pepsi were all 5 cents

And if you didn't want to splurge, you could spend your 5 cents on enough stamps to mail 1 letter and 2 postcards.

You could buy a new Ford Coupe for $600, but who could afford one?
Too bad, because gas was 16 cents a gallon.

In my day:
"grass" was mowed,
"coke" was a cold drink,
"pot" was something your mother cooked in and
"rock music" was your grandmother's lullaby.
"Aids" were helpers in the Principal's office,
"chip" meant a piece of wood,
"hardware" was found in a hardware store and...
"software" wasn't even a word.

And we were the last generation to actually believe that a lady needed a husband to have a baby.
No wonder people call us "old and confused" and say there is a generation gap.

How old do you think I am?

I bet you have this old lady in mind. You are in for a shock!

Read on to see…pretty scary if you think about it and pretty sad at the same time.

Are you ready?????

This woman would be only 62 years old…Born in 1952.

GIVES YOU SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT.
PASS THIS ON TO THE OLD ONES.
THE YOUNG ONES WOULDN'T BELIEVE IT. LOL

New Car?

Received the following from our own Sunny from Aimless Ramblings and Leigh Smith…just had to share!

This man owned & drove the same car for…
82 YEARS!

owned the same car for 82 years

Can you imagine even having the same car for 82 years?  I thought I was doing good with the same car for a bit over 15 years!

Mr. Allen Swift ( Springfield, MA ) received this 1928 Rolls-Royce Piccadilly-P1 Roadster from his father, brand new - as a graduation gift in 1928.

He drove it up until his death last year…at the age of 102!!!

He was the oldest living owner of a car that was purchased new.

Just thought you'd like to see it.

It was donated to a Springfield museum after his death.

It has 1,070,000 miles on it, still runs like a Swiss watch, dead silent at any speed and is in perfect cosmetic condition (82 years). That's approximately 13,048 miles per year (1087 per month).

1,070,000 miles, not kilometers!!

Wow!

Rapping Cause Brain Damage

Many of you may have heard or read the interview Kanye West did where he compared his performance onstage to being a police officer or in the military.  Really?

Below is an open letter written to West by Chief Oliver of the Brimfield Police Department.

Dear Kanye West,
I am honored to be writing such an important star.  I am a mere Internet sensation.  I’m not sure I am worthy to address you, although the Huffington Post did say I was “Humorous and Insanely Popular.”  I don't pay much attention to those things.  Anyway, please excuse my interference in your life for a quick second.

I read your interview and also watched it on video.  You said:  “I’m just giving of my body on the stage and putting my life at risk, literally…and I think about it.  I think about my family and I’m like, wow, this is like being a police officer or something, in war or something.” I want to thank you for putting your life on the line for all of us every day.  I know that being a rapper is tough work.  I have tried to rap, and it is very difficult to keep up with the pulse of the rhyme flow…although when Ice Ice Baby comes on the radio, I can usually keep up with ol’ Vanilla.  Anywho, your job is just some very dangerous work.  Most people don't consider...if you rap really fast, without a chance to inhale, you could pass out and hit your head.

That last paragraph was covered in sarcasm.  I’m letting you know, just so you do not think I agree with your very ignorant assessment of your career (or any other performer) as it relates to a person in the military or a police officer’s service.  You sir, are as misguided as they come.  I do have a suggestion for you.  Since you are accustomed to danger, from your life as an international rapper, I am strongly encouraging you immediately abandon you career as a super star and join the military.  After joining, I would like you to volunteer to be deployed in Afghanistan or one of the numerous other forward locations where our men an women are currently serving.  When the Taliban starts shooting at you, perhaps you could stand up and let the words flow.  It could be something like “I’m Kanye West, wearing a flak vest.”  I’m sure they would just drop weapons and surrender.  You could quite possibly end all wars, just from the enemy being star-struck. And if that didn’t work, you could always send your body guards after them because you can’t go anywhere without your body guards!

Kanye West Takes Stroll NYC p9fZJAg1YDkl

Your line of thinking is part of the problem in the world today…which include entertainers thinking they are something more than just entertainers.  I know it is supply and demand and the demand for your services is high.  I get economics.  What I do not get is you EVER comparing what you do for a living to our heroic military members, who are always in harm’s way…and my brother and sister police officers who have to go to work carrying weapons and wearing a bullet-proof vest to protect themselves.

Check yourself, before you wreck yourself…Chief Oliver of the Brimfield Police Department.

Click here for the Fox News article.  Click here for a video of West’s interview on RadarOnline.com

As the mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter and cousin of many military men and women, I am very offended by the statements made by West.  This jerk must be brain damaged to make such ridiculous claims!  Of course, this is only the last of many stupid things he’s done that IMO indicate he is brain damaged.

What are You Missing?

"A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that 1,100 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

Three minutes went by, and a middle aged man noticed there was musician playing. He slowed his pace, and stopped for a few seconds, and then hurried up to meet his schedule.

A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping, and continued to walk.

A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the man looked at his watch and started to walk again. Clearly he was late for work.

The one who paid the most attention was a 3 year old boy. His mother tagged him along, hurried, but the kid stopped to look at the violinist. Finally, the mother pushed hard, and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. All the parents, without exception, forced them to move on.

In the 45 minutes the musician played, only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money, but continued to walk their normal pace. He collected $32. When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the most talented musicians in the world. He had just played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, on a violin worth $3.5 million dollars.

Two days before his playing in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste, and priorities of people.
The outlines were:
In a commonplace environment at an inappropriate hour:
Do we perceive beauty?
Do we stop to appreciate it?
Do we recognize the talent in an unexpected context?

One of the possible conclusions from this experience could be:
If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing the best music ever written, how many other things are we missing?"
 Something to think about...

Harvard recognizes group promoting safe kinky sex

harvard university campus

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) - Kinky sex has been admitted to Harvard.

The nation's oldest university has formally recognized Harvard College Munch, a group promoting discussions and safe practices of kinky and alternative sex. The school has no record of a similar group being recognized in its 376-year history.

The Committee on Student Life recognized Munch on Friday, making it one of 400 independent student organizations on campus. The decision occurred more than a year after members began meeting informally over meals.

"Applications for recognition are decided by a student-faculty committee following the review of a committee composed of students and administrators," Harvard spokesman Jeff Neal said in a statement Tuesday. "The college does not endorse the views or activities of any independent student organization."

Harvard is not the first school in the country to formally recognize kinky sex groups, and several active groups exist within the larger community in Cambridge and neighboring Boston.
