  4. I often think of grand-mother today. She saw all 9 of her sons leave to serve in WW II...I cannot imagine her pride and worry. Those who serve enable us to have the life we have...forever thankful for my dad, all my uncles, and all who serve.

    1. Whoa Abby...I can't imagine sending off 9 sons to serve...the worry must have been tremendous! I have my grandfather's diary from when he was serving in the Merchant Marine during the war and got word that my uncle's ship (his oldest son) had gone down. Thankfully, my uncle was rescued. I am thankful to your family and to mine and all others for their service and sacrifice.

  6. Cat, thank you for this tribute today. When I first glanced at the cartoon above, I thought what could be funny about Veteran's Day. This cartoon was not for humor but for sharing some wisdom and truth. I have a hard time accepting people who refuse to stand for the Pledge or national anthem.

We owe that respect to our country and to our veterans.

    1. Thank you in joining in tribute, Ella. I also have a real problem understanding those who will not respect our country and our veterans which gives them all the rights and freedoms they enjoy. I dare them to not stand for the pledge or national anthem or burn a flag in some other countries!

  8. Cat,
Such beautiful reminders of this day. I love the symbolism of the poppy. I think it's very important to thank all those who have served in some capacity or another. Our children walked in our local Veteran's Day parade last weekend. I think it's extremely necessary to not only celebrate such a holiday, but also to pass it down so our children understand it's significance. So thankful for all who have served and continue to serve.

    1. Thank you for joining in remembrance, Baker. I agree, I do agree it is very important to teach our children why this holiday and Memorial Day are so important. As many others have said..."Lest we forget!"
