Scientific proof!

What a relief to learn this!

Ever walk into a room with some purpose in mind, only to completely forget what that purpose was?

Turns out, doors themselves are to blame for these strange memory lapses.

Psychologists at the University of Notre Dame have discovered that passing through a doorway triggers what's known as an Event Boundary in the mind, separating one set of thoughts and memories from the next. Your brain files away the thoughts you had in the previous room and prepares a blank slate for the new locale.

Thank goodness for studies like this.

It's not our age, it's that damn door!

  2. Cat,
I'm not that old, but I love I have an excuse now when Hoss sends me to get something and I forget I can share this theory. Before I just blamed it on the kids for interrupting my thought process, now I have a better excuse.

    1. LOL Sunny...it doesn't have to be an actual door...just a doorway...even a transition from hallway to living room. ;)

  4. I'm just happy to hear it happens to a lot of people and not just my spouse, who hates it when that happens...
And "Thank-you" for the word salami. It was the word my mind was searching for, but I just couldn't seem to catch up with it. I quickly changed the word after I read your comment.😉
