Welcome to my little corner of the world where you never know what you will find! It could be anything from a joke to a funny picture to a personal rant to a favorite recipe to an awesome quote to any random "bright idea" that pops into my mind.
I actually do this, sometimes I get a weird look and sometimes a wide smile....We were discussing a book in book club this week, and reminder ourselves..it's the small things that can give the most pleasure. hugs abby
I have received those weird looks also, Abby but it's all worth it when you get the wide smile isn't it. You and your book club are right...sometimes it is the small things that bring the greatest pleasure.
Love this one, Cat. I try to do this often. There are so many people out there that get overlooked or never feel appreciated. I used to do it with my school kids, too. If you spent extra time complimenting the child who was often ignored by others, it could change the classroom dynamic in such a positive way.
Cat, I read your post and thought of my oldest daughter. She is forever watching people and has no problem going up to a perfect stranger and complimenting their hair or nails. I love this about her.
You do an excellent job too, Cat, on making the world a happier place! Thanks for being a ray of sunshine!
Hmm, maybe men and women react better to a compliment than from a man? If I say to a nice redhead in the tram or bus "I really like the colour of your hair", she has this look: What does this creep wants from me?
Just being nice. Strange times we live in, sometimes.
Hadn't really thought about that, Han but can definitely see that happening. Isn't it sad when a compliment makes us wonder what that person wants. You are a super nice person...don't let anyone take that away from you!
So true! I give random compliments all the time. I know it has certainly brightened my day at times when someone has complimented me and I hope I brighten others days as well. :)
I do the same, Lilli...you never know when that one positive word is going to make a difference in someone's life. Also, just walking through a store or down the street and smiling at someone can brighten their day. BTW...thanks for sharing your link...was getting all your feeds on my reading list and then suddenly stopped. Just realized I didn't know you'd posted in the last month!
Cat,
ReplyDeleteWe do need a lot more nice these days.
Thank you,
Meredith
Most definitely, Mere!

What an awesome teacher, Ella...that really does make a difference to a child and to the way they look at their educational experience.

What an awesome thing for your daughter to do...you're raising that girl right, Baker! Thank you for such a lovely compliment!

I don't mean to pat myself on the shoulder, but I've always done this.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Baker, thank you for being a ray of sunshine.
What a wonderful habit that is and that's why we call you, Sunny! Thank you for the lovely compliment!
